I used a photo mosaic program to lay out the images. I forget what it's called, I just googled photo mosaic and downloaded a open source application for Macs. The hard part was finding about 800 unique digital images,but even with that many I had to tell the program to repeat images in the mosaic in order to get a clear picture.
